The WISSARD project will complete an integrated study of Marine Ice Sheet Stability and Subglacial Life in West Antarctica through the application of diverse, and sometimes novel applications of technology in the field and laboratory.  In addition to surface geophysical surveys with borehole and subglacial sampling, the project will utilize complex multisensor instrumentation including the SIR, the Sub-Ice ROVer (Remotely Operated Vehicle) and sub-ice oceanographic moorings.  Both technologies represent signifigant advances in polar technology.
