The detector will warn with a special signal of a critical concentration of the virus in the air.
Researchers from the Polytechnic University of Valencia have developed a special sensor that will monitor the presence of coronavirus in the air.
It is reported by Medical Express.
The device is still at the prototype stage. It will assess the quality of the air at an early stage to detect coronavirus indoors.
The sensor consists of virus-like particles (VLP) that mimic the virus, but not the composition of that genome. That is, they are not infectious. In the above case, the SARS-CoV-2 VLP consists of the spicule protein, the wrapped protein, the majority protein of its membrane and the nucleocapsid protein. In fact, it includes all elements of the coronavirus, making it effective for such tasks.
The detector will warn with a special signal of a critical concentration of the virus in the air.
The development is now in the evaluation phase at the hospital level. Scientists have already pleased that if tested successfully, the technology will not cost much and will be easy to use.
