In Situ Water Sampler

The In Situ Water Samper was designed and manufactured by McLane Research Laboratories and concentrates large volumes of water (10-100 liters) onto filters. Filters will be used for 16S RNA-based microbial community analysis using DNA and reverse transcribed RNA. The design is based on their WTS-LV sampler, but was reconfigured for WISSARD to be able to fit down the 30 cm borehole. The sampler includes a 4L/min pump, with the ability to pump water (in tandem) through membrane filters of 3 different pore sizes to partition particulates based on size. The sampler is designed to operate to depths of 5,000 meters.
