Science Is Cool: Bringing Climate Science to the Elementary Classroom

A Short Course for teachers at the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Conference in San Antonio, Texas 2013

Need cutting-edge classroom tools for teaching polar science? Join educators and polar scientists and engage in inquiry activities for upper elementary and middle school students. Global climate change is part of the disciplinary core ideas in the NRC Framework and is expected to have a similar presence in the Next Generation Science Standards. This short course will provide participants with the knowledge and resources to address those core ideas in their existing curriculum. Participants will interact with polar scientists and with educators experienced in polar and climate change science as they build essential knowledge of science content and inquiry pedagogy.Join us for four hours of action-packed information and fun.  All course participants will receive education materials ready for use in the classroom!  The short course will combine the latest science, interactive hands on activities and best practices for inquiry based learning.  This workshop targets upper elementary and middle school classrooms.
